Mario and Massimo Monticelli are the primary winemakers for Madrone Ridge. Mario has previously garnered attention for the wines he makes for Quixote Winery in Napa. The brothers are fifth-generation winemakers who also consult with other small wineries in Sonoma and Napa Valleys.
Jeff Cohn is consulting winemaker for Madrone Ridge. After developing critically acclaimed Zinfandels as winemaker for Rosenblum Cellars, Jeff founded JC Cellars, where he is winemaker and president. Jeff consults on all aspects of the winemaking process, and has prescribed a cooperage program utilizing a variety of French and American Oak to produce a wine which continually opens up on the palate.
In planting Madrone Ridge vineyards, Bill Sanderson has returned to his roots as a Texas farmboy. Although Bill oversees all operations of the winery and vineyards, he can most often be seen tending his vines. Educated as a chemical engineer, Bill applies his engineering skills at every opportunity to the problems of well filtration, soil preservation, and irrigation.
